In Colossians 1:9-14, it states that God is the one who rescues us from the domain of Darkness, qualifies us to share in the inheritance, and fills us with the knowledge of His Will. Therefore, we see that it is God who does the work of salvation and the work of sanctification. It begins as we respond to the Gospel and place our faith in Jesus Christ and ask Him to be our Savior and Lord. The title ‘Lord’ means that He is master, king, or boss. It means that Jesus has come to take control of our life and to lead us. He doesn’t just come to be a part of our religious life; He is Lord over all our life. We don’t control Him, for He is ‘UNTAMED.’ And just like a wild fire that spreads, Christ comes into our life and touches every aspect of our life. Then as He works in our life, He gives us the ability to walk in a manner that is worthy of the Lord and that pleases Him. And Just as He is ‘UNTAMED’ in our life, He is ‘UNTAMED’ in our student ministry. Our desire is to surrender to the UNTAMED LORD, and allow Him to lead us.
First Baptist Student Ministry exists to reach students with the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to help students learn to follow Jesus, learn to love everyone like Jesus, and equipping them to tell the world about Jesus.
- To proclaim Jesus in everything that we do. Every activity and every event serves to reach, equip, and train students to follow and serve Jesus!
- To provide discipleship, accountability, and fellowship through small groups.
- To promote worship by providing a worship service that teaches and inspires students to worship and love God with all their heart, soul, and mind and to love others as themselves.
- To prepare hands on opportunities where students can serve Jesus in practical ways.
