Church Vote on New Charter
Sunday Morning March 29th
at the end of each Worship Service
A church charter exists to be: a foundational legal or ecclesiastical document that outlines a religious institution's governing principles, structure, purpose, and relationship with a parent body. It often serves as the official articles of incorporation at the state level, establishing the church as a legal entity, and may define its spiritual mission.
Key elements of a church charter typically include:
- Name, Location, and Duration: The legal name, address, and duration of the organization.
- Purpose: Definition of the church's mission and, often, its 501(c)(3) religious, tax-exempt purpose.
- Governance Structure: Outlining leadership, decision-making authority, and how members or leaders are selected.
- Ecclesiastical Relationship: Defining the connection between a local congregation and a larger, overseeing denomination or network
Please Note: Our committee is still working on the Constitution & By-laws update for the church.
- Charter vs. Bylaws: While the charter (or Articles of Incorporation) is the high-level legal document filed with the state, the bylaws (or constitution) define the detailed, internal operational rules.
