Church Transition Team Nominations

TRANSITION TEAM NOMINATION INFORMATION

From the Committee on Committees:

Church Family,

At our June 1st business meeting, the church approved our committee to collect nominations from the congregation to form a Transition Team. The Transition Team will have three roles: 1) To select a Transitional Interim Pastor. 2) To assist the Transitional Interim Pastor with communication and fellowship with the congregation. 3) To assess the information from listening sessions(possibly hold more listening sessions) and communicate with our committees, staff, and deacons. They will report to the congregation in various ways for all to hear. This committee's goal is to facilitate healing and transparency as the congregation seeks to make meaningful change through this period of transition.

Nominations can be submitted to committee members directly, online, or in the ballot box at the welcome center. The committee will review nominations to present a smaller slate of nominees to the church for vote at a special called meeting with two weeks notice. Nominees should be leaders that have demonstrated spiritual maturity and are diverse in age, but not part of past conflict. Nominations will close June 30th.

The Committee on Committees is seeking nominations (diverse, multi-generational, trusted) for the Transition Team.  Nominations will be vetted and elected by members of the congregation.  The team will operate as an “Ad hoc” committee according to our church bylaws and endures until to and through the call of a permanent Senior Pastor.

(As explained in the business meeting, the Transition Team is NOT a Pastor Search Committee.  That committee will be formed at the appropriate time according to the church bylaws.)

The Transition Team will synthesize information from church listening sessions into actionable goals and work with the committees (finance, personnel, bylaws, deacons) to achieve them.  The congregation will be kept informed through regular updates and communications in all appropriate content streams.  The team will focus on coordination of healing and renewal work along with the committees and the Transitional Interim Pastor (TIP).  One of its first tasks will be to recommend the TIP (with guidance from the Nashville Baptist Association).  The TIP will be specially trained in leadership, conflict resolution and healing.

We do not plan to include individuals who are currently serving on another committee or staff members on the Transition Team.

Please pray for our church, each person serving on the various committees, and our church staff members during this time of change.  Pray that the Lord will bring to your mind the name(s) of individuals who should be nominated for this important work.  Most importantly, pray for healing and that everything said and done will be pleasing to Him.
